Description: A key action from the Scottish Government’s Tobacco Control Strategy – Creating a Tobacco-Free Scotland – which reiterates the vision set out in CEL 01 (2012), Health Promoting Health Service: Action in Hospital Settings - was for all NHS Boards to implement smoke-free grounds by March 2015.

This Smoke-free NHS Scotland: Implementation Guidance has been developed by the National Smoke-free Grounds working group and is designed to support NHS Boards achieve smoke-free NHS premises. It consists of two parts. The first part is the Guidance document, at

and the second part consists of supporting material developed by NHS Boards and shared here as examples of local implementation. This includes a statement from the State Hospital in support of smoke-free health settings.
