Summary:
The resources listed below are aimed at health professionals supporting the National Flu Immunisation Programme.

For GPs:
• Posters aimed at parents of 2–5-year-olds for display in your practice.
• Reference copies of the leaflets for display in your practice – parents will receive the leaflet as part of their invitation and central letter.
• For information purposes only, a sample of the invitation letter that all parents of 2–5-year-olds will receive.

The practice nurse folder/pack contains:
• samples of the poster aimed at parents of 2–5-year-olds
• childhood flu information leaflet for parents of 2–5-year-olds who are not yet in school
• for information purposes only, a sample of the invitation letter sent to all parents of 2–5-year-olds
• samples of the preschool flu stickers
• samples of the post-immunisation advice leaflet for health professionals to use when discussing the immunisation with parents.

Parents should be signposted for more information to the NHS Inform website - www.nhsinform.scot/childflu - where they can watch a film of the flu vaccine being given to children.

The resources listed below make up the Flu Education Pack and are aimed at school staff supporting the National Flu Immunisation Programme.

More specifically, below you can find electronic copies of:

• the ‘Flu immunisation in primary schools in Scotland’ for head teachers, which contains background detail on the flu programme and a useful guide for planning the immunisation sessions at your school

• suggested classroom-based activities about flu and immunisation, with clear links to Curriculum for Excellence

• samples of the invitation letter and leaflet which are sent to parents (please note these should not be sent to parents as they are reference copies for information purposes only)

• a sample of the post-immunisation advice leaflet, which is provided to parents following their child’s immunisation (please note this is a reference copy, for information purposes only)

• the consent form guidance, a resource to help support parents to accurately complete the consent form

• the staffroom poster, a resource to raise awareness of the Education Pack with teachers and staff in your school

• copies of posters for display in schools to increase awareness among parents and children about the flu immunisation programme.

The ‘You and flu’ film with short clips aimed at parents/carers, children and teachers, can be found at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtYj_kImoYg and can be shown in the classroom and/or assemblies. The film introduces flu and the concept of immunisation in a fun and engaging way. It also shows the way the nasal spray vaccine is administered.
