Young People research

Find out what existing evidence the Young People programme draws on to inform its activities.
Our evidence-informed approach allows us to draw together existing research on health issues relating to young people and their family groups (literature reviews), to synthesize the existing evidence around effective interventions (systematic reviews of effectiveness) and to commission new research where gaps remain.
Highlights
- Resource Needs of Primary Care teams in Supporting Youth Friendly Health Services (2007): this research, commissioned by NHS Health Scotland, formed the basis of our resource development for our national initiative Walk the Talk (external site) which concentrates on creating accessible and supportive health services for young people
- Youth information campaigns report(2007): outlines findings from research conducted on behalf of NHS Health Scotland of which the primary aim was to determine which health information channels were being used by young people by specific target groups of young people to obtain health information to meet their needs. Providing insight and guidance as to how to improve and extend InfoLine (web and telephone-based services offered by Young Scot) was the focal point for the research.
