Dr Claudia Martin was Research Director at the Scottish Centre for Social Research (ScotCen) until 2011. Prior to its merger in 2004 with ScotCen, Claudia was Co-Director of Scottish Health Feedback. She is co-principal investigator on two longitudinal qualitative evaluations of the legislation to prohibit smoking in public places in Scotland and England, and she was a member of the research collaboration team evaluating the Healthy Respect Demonstration Project. Claudia also delivers training in qualitative data analysis.

Deborah Ritchie, FRIPH, MSc, RMN, is the Head of Nursing Studies at the University of Edinburgh. She is a tobacco control researcher. The main focus of her research interest is tobacco control and community.
She participates in inter-disciplinary research and such projects include 'Assessing the Effectiveness of a Community-Based Anti-Smoking Intervention in a Low Income Area' and 'Qualitative Study of Changes in Smoking (and Drinking) Behaviour following Implementation of the Prohibition of Smoking in Enclosed Public Places' both in Scotland and England.
