Scottish Centre for Healthy Working Lives

The Scottish Centre for Healthy Working Lives was set up in April 2005 to drive forward Scotland's effort to improve the health of Scotland's working age population.
By bringing together Scotland's Health at Work (SHAW) and Safe and Healthy Working (SaHW) under the same umbrella, Scotland is the first country within the UK to have taken forward this critically important work through a single national centre.
From April this year, the Centre has also taken responsibility for the business and employability strands of Scotland Against Drugs.
The service in Scotland comprises:
- Scotland's Health at Work national award programme.
- Healthy Working Lives telephone advice line (0800 019 2211) offering free and confidential expert advice on workplace safety and health to individuals and employers.
- Free impartial and confidential workplace assessment visits to help companies understand their Occupational Health and Safety duties and provide practical and workable solutions for small firms.
- Web-based services, providing downloadable workplace tools, training packages and a range of information materials tailored specifically toward SMEs. This is further complemented by an online enquiry service.
