Living well with dementia

Living well with dementia - a practical guide

This Living well with dementia publication is for people who are either worried about or who have been diagnosed with dementia. It provides reassurance and suggests practical steps to improve or maintain dignity and the quality of life as far as possible.

Living well with dementia DVD

Produced by NHS Health Scotland in partnership with Alzheimer Scotland and the Scottish Dementia Working Group, 'Living well with dementia', is a DVD for people who have just been given a diagnosis of dementia. It is based on the experiences of people with dementia and carers, using their voices to:

  • help people in the early stages of diagnosis understand more about their illness
  • share experience around how to ‘live well’ after a diagnosis of dementia
  • share practical advice on coping with its effects
  • suggest where people with dementia and their carers can go for further support.

You can view the four clips that make up the DVD below. You can also download transcripts of the films.
