Healthy Sectors

Rather than focus on specific aspects of health or the health of certain populations the Healthy Sectors team works in partnership with key organisations operating at a national and regional level to increase their capacity to tackle health inequalities and improve the health and wellbeing of the people of Scotland.

Community and Voluntary Sectors: The programme aims to support, promote and influence the crucial health improvement role of the community and voluntary health sectors by working with and through a number of key partners for delivery.

Health Promoting Health Service: A settings-based health promotion approach which aims to support the development of a health promoting culture and embed effective health improvement practice within NHS Scotland.

Local Government: The local government programme supports councils and community planning partnerships in their efforts to improve health and tackle health inequalities within their communities.

NHS Greenspace: The NHS Greenspace Demonstration Project, established by the Green Exercise Partnership (NHS Health Scotland, Forestry Commission Scotland and Scottish Natural Heritage), aims to mainstream the use of greenspace on the NHS estate as a health promoting asset.
