HPHS Introductory Training
This course provides an overview to the Health Promoting Health Service Framework as an aid to developing an ethos for health improvement within the NHS. After this course participants should have a better appreciation of how their day-to-day work might improve health and be able to identify how their work contributes to health promotion.

HPHS Resources
There is a range of factors which need to be in place for effective and sustainable health improvement to become integrated into health care services. These are:
- management commitment
- competence in public health and health promotion
- specialist support
- co-ordination
- use of tools such as the HPHS Guidance and WHO HPH Standards (external link)
These factors are fully explored in The Evaluation of the HPHS Framework.
The investment required for each factor is small, but putting them all together has proven to be effective (see case studies).
