The Education Programme has produced several resources to help support health promotion programmes in schools. The following is a list of our most current resources and training available.
Confidence to Learn
Confidence to Learn is a teaching resource offering illuminative research strategies for the classroom, to help plan health education lessons. It is aimed at teachers of primary school pupils and supports the development of the health promoting school concept.
Growing Through Adolescence
Growing Through Adolescence is a Continuing Professional Development tool for Trainers to use with teachers in upper primary and lower secondary schools. It offers a comprehensive, evidence-based overview of healthy eating in relation to young people and links to and supports health promoting schools, Hungry for Success and a curriculum for excellence. This resource is only available for those who have undergone the training.
The Class Moves
This is a classroom resource that aims to encourage children to engage in different types of physical activity on a daily basis. It consists of a number of playful relaxation exercises for primary school children from P1 to P7.
SHARE
This is a Sexual Health and Relationship Education resource for teachers of young people in S2-S4. It helps young people to build up knowledge, explore and reflect on attitudes and develop life skills, which will support them in the decisions they make around sexual health. This resource complements the National Sexual Health Strategy, Respect and Responsibility and supports the health promoting school concept. This resource is only available for those who have undergone the training.
School Health Profile
This resource aims to identify the many different needs of a School's population, through the collation of existing data available. It records initiatives, interventions and programmes and identifies the context in which the School sits. The tool is underpinned by the principles within the Scottish Framework for Nursing in Schools, Ambitious, Excellent Schools and the health promoting school.
Tobacco Facts
This is a resource pack for upper primary school teachers comprising of factsheets, offering up-to-date information and new research findings. The pack contains suggested links with a curriculum for excellence, background information on the research that was conducted, and links to websites for further information.

Courses are available for those who are interested in becoming Trainers for:
