Education Programme

Leaders in Health & Wellbeing: Working together to support the education sector.
NHS Health Scotland’s Education Programme supports and facilitates health & wellbeing in Scottish schools. It produces resources and training programmes, commissions research and works in partnership with a wide range of agencies to strategically link policy, evidence and practice. Formally known as the schools programme of work, this title was expanded to include other education institutions, encompassing transitions for children & young people through the 3-18 age range.
The Curriculum for Excellence, Principles and Practice 2009 says that: "Learning in health and wellbeing ensures that children and young people develop the knowledge and understanding, skills, capabilities and attributes which they need for mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing now and in the future."
It is therefore important to provide children and young people with a positive learning environment with accessible information and support to enable them to make informed health choices. NHS Health Scotland works with a range of key partners to ensure that key health messages are delivered and prominent within schools.
