HIV WAKE UP campaign

The HIV Wake Up resources provide consistent Scotland-wide messages to encourage men who have sex with men to get regularly tested for HIV and support the continued use of condoms and lube to reduce HIV transmission.
These resources, which are for use across Scotland, support the implementation of Action 8 of the HIV Action Plan 2009-2014 (external link). They have been developed in response to extensive research with men and professionals. Find more details on this research in the right panel of this page.
The resources were produced by NHS Health Scotland working closely with Scottish Government colleagues and consultion with an advisory group of NHS, local authority and voluntary sector partners.
Resources
Released for local use by NHS Boards, local authorities and voluntary sector at the end of May 2010, the resources available are: a briefing for professionals; plus public-facing posters, information leaflets and www.hiv-wakeup.org.uk (external link) which gives you information on where to get tested, where to access condoms, lube and also HIV treatment and care.
Briefing for professionals: to help staff who might need to speak to men about HIV testing and risk factors, we’ve developed a briefing to improve their knowledge and awareness.
Posters: for use in health centres, sexual heath services as well as non health settings – also being used for convenience advertising in bars and clubs.
Information leaflets: setting out the benefits of HIV testing and encouraging the use of condoms and lube for men who have sex with men.
