The team produces a range of guidance for policy makers, colleagues in NHS Scotland and others to promote and support evidence-informed action and enable the translation of evidence into practice.

From 2006-2011, the team produced briefings (previously known as Scottish Perspectives and initially Commentaries) on NICE Public Health Guidance where this was considered appropriate.

These briefings on NICE Guidance are still considered up-to-date.

The team no longer produces these briefings but instead incorporates NICE Public Health Guidance where appropriate into other aspects of its work, for example, briefings for the NHS Education for Scotland website.

Other examples of guidance developed to inform NHS policy and practice and for use by health professionals include:

The National Smoking Cessation guidelines which involve a synthesis of multiple sources of the best evidence currently available, such as NICE’s various pieces of smoking cessation guidance.

Evidence based guidelines on child oral health (external link) are available on the Childsmile website.

The oral health and nutrition guidelines provide more comprehensive dietary and dental health guidelines.
