What Evidence for Action can do for you

The Evidence for Action (EfA) team works through colleagues in other teams across NHS Health Scotland and directly with partners and stakeholder organisations.

Much of our work is in the form of an evidence contribution to cross-organisational teams, but we also provide direct support to a number of partner organisations (for instance providing evidence support to the NES website and to the Public Health Nursing website. (See the related Modernising Nursing in the Community briefing).

In addition, the team has contributed to the development and implementation of the Scottish Government’s Good Places Better Health initiative (external link). As part of the Good Places Better Health initiative we have produced two manuals to assist practitioners with developing local workshops around environment and health. The strategic version of the Good Places Better Health Facilitators Handbook assists practitioners who want to develop workshops utilising DPSEEA (Drivers, pressures, state, exposures, effects and actions) mind maps.

We offer support to local teams and groups who wish to use this approach to support their own strategy and action development. If you wish to find out more about this, please contact: nhs.HealthScotland-EfAAdmin@nhs.net

The team provides support to the Healthy Environment Network, which brings together organisations and individuals with the ability to influence the environment to improve health.
