Evaluation of the Keep Well Pilots
Keep Well (formerly Prevention 2010) is a national pilot of anticipatory care in Scotland. It will assist in the delivery of the Scottish Executive's health inequalities targets, and is part of the overall implementation of Delivering for Health.
Keep Well aims
The aim of Keep Well is to reduce health inequalities in cardiovascular disease (CVD) by the year 2010 by increasing the rate of health improvement among high risk, hard to reach groups living in the most deprived communities.
The rate of health improvement will be increased within these groups by delivering preventive clinical interventions of proven effectiveness in managing/controlling CVD risk factors.
Further information can be found on our Keep Well topic pages and on the Scottish Exectutive's Keep Well website (external link).
Evaluating Keep Well
The Keep Well pilots will be evaluated with the aim of building knowledge about the feasibility and challenges of delivering Keep Well and the success of different approaches to engagement and service re-design with a view to incorporating the lessons learned from the pilots into subsequent waves of implementation and/or policy rollout.
The contract for the national evaluation of Keep Well has been awarded to a team from the University of Glasgow (Departments of General Practice and Primary Care, and Urban Studies) and Edinburgh University (Research Unit in Health, Behaviour and Change). Details of the intended research design are available.
Further information will be posted as it becomes available.
