LEARNING ACROSS EVALUATIONS
Evaluations of policy implementation often reveal common themes relevant to the delivery process.
Health Scotland’s role is to ensure that cross-programme and cross-policy learning is captured and drawn together in order to develop more effective practice for the future.
The following are examples of work in this area.
Evaluation of Phase One of the National Health Demonstration Projects
The overview of evaluations (external link) across the three national demonstration projects during Phase 1 conducted by the Evaluation Task Group provided valuable learning about the commissioning and planning processes that have been influential not only for Phase 2, but also for wider practice.
Learning Across the Evaluations of Health Improvement Initiatives in Scotland
The purpose of this paper is to initiate discussion on whether and how the recurring barriers to, and enablers of, effective delivery of health improvement identified through evaluations of national initiatives over recent years can be appropriately addressed.
This paper provides the findings from a thematic analysis of a selection of evaluation reports in order to identify what issues are commonly identified as impacting on the effectiveness of health improvement delivery.
