Evaluation

Health Scotland has a co-ordinating role in evaluating the implementation, progress and impact of health improvement policies in Scotland, as set out in Improving Health in Scotland: The Challenge (2003)
TEAM PURPOSE
- To increase the effectiveness of planning and delivery of health improvement policy and related national programmes or initiatives
- By working in teams with policy leads, programme managers, national coordinators, evaluators, evidence experts (internal and external) and local delivery partners:
Outcome-focused Planning.
To develop outcome-focused, evidence-informed plans for HI priority areas with monitoring and evaluation framework.
HIPM Review
To develop an outcome-based performance framework for health improvement that is appropriate for a cross-sector, partnership based delivery system and is relevant to the context of the National Performance Framework and Single Outcome Agreements.
Programme Evaluation
To evaluate specific national health improvement programmes that are implemented locally.
Policy Reviews
To inform the future direction of health improvement policies on the basis of a summative review of implementation progress and impacts.
Evaluation Summer School
To support this highly popular annual event run by the University of Edinburgh's Evaluation Programme.
Evaluation Support
To provide support and advice on evaluation and outcomes for those working to improve health and reduce inequalities.
