Monitoring and Evaluating Interventions
Links and documents which give advice on how to monitor and evaluate interventions with a focus on public health. The list is not intended to be exhaustive but provides a starting point if you're undertaking an evaluation.
- A step-by-step guide with a particular focus on alcohol and drug interventions, NHS Lanarkshire's Basic Principles of Evaluation for Service Providers (external link) is founded on a series of workshops given to practioners.
- MRC (Medical Research Council) Glossary for Public Health Research (external link) is a really useful resource for explaning the jargon of evaluation.
- Evaluation Support Scotland (external link) – a charity devoted to helping smaller and voluntary organisations with evaluations.
- The Magenta Book HM Treasury's reference for policy evaluation work is intended as a standard for the civil service.
- NHS Health Scotland's Outcome Frameworks website to help you plan and evaluate health improvement work.
