Media campaign

Understanding of the term 'quality family time' was the focus of parents' discussion groups, the outcomes of which will help inform Healthy Respect's next media campaign.

A media campaign was launched 15 May 2006 and builds on the results of the evidence review, More than Words, which revealed that quality family time could positively influence young people's risk taking behaviour.

Healthy Respect Phase 1

In Phase 1, Healthy Respect aimed to help young people in Lothian to develop a healthy respect for themselves and for others so that unplanned teenage pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections might be reduced.

The partnership approach between health services, local authorities and the voluntary sector focuses on targeting young people (aged 13-25), parents and professionals and linking education, information and accessible services.

There were 19 projects, ranging from developing postal testing kits for chlamydia, enhanced sex and relationships education in schools and outreach/inreach family planning nurse services.

As part of Phase 1, Healthy Respect was subject to extensive internal, project led evaluation and external, independent evaluation led by the Dugald Baird Centre at the University of Aberdeen.
