Mental Health Patient Pathways for Prisoners

Project Background

The request for this project came from the Scottish Directors of Public Health (SDsPH) Group.

Aim of Project

To develop a person pathway for prisoners with mental health problems (anxiety and depression) to cover the admission and release of prisoners from jail.

Lead Authors

Susie Wighton, Public Health Practitioner, Aberdeen CHP and Bill Spence, University Teacher, University of Glasgow undertook the initial development of the pathway and supporting resource. Fiona Myers is finalising the pathway.

Timescale

This project is scheduled to complete by the end of the financial year 08-09.

Status/Update

Further to the Scottish Prison Service (SPS) pilot of the mental health patient pathway, the pathway is being finalised in light of comments.
