HIV/AIDS Care and Treatment Needs Assessment

Project Background

In response to a request from the Chief Medical Officer, the ScotPHN is currently undertaking a needs assessment of treatment and care services required for people with HIV.

Aim of Project

The needs assessment will look at epidemiological data (number of people living with HIV etc), comparative data (what happens in other areas/countries) and corporate views (mainly views of those involved with the delivery of services) to ascertain what services are currently available and to look at what services will be required in the future.

Lead Author

The lead author taking forward this work is Dr Cathy Johnman, Clinical Lecturer, University of Glasgow and Specialist Registrar, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

Project Group

The project is guided by a project working group chaired by John Logan (Consultant in Public Health Medicine, NHS Lanarkshire), Chair of the Blood-borne Viruses & Sexually Transmitted Infections Network. Members of the working group are as follows:

Timescale

Project commenced March 2008.

Final report scheduled for end of 2008.

Status/ Update

The report for this project is in development.

A stakeholder event for consultation was held on 23 September.
