Knowledge Services News
From Library Services to Knowledge Services
Health Scotland’s library service has now become Knowledge Services. We will continue to offer the services we have always provided to those who work in health improvement and health inequalities in Scotland, such as literature searching, help with keeping up to date in your subject area and book and resource lending. However, we are also focussing on the wider use and application of knowledge to support health improvement, which will involve working much more closely with teams and individuals to ensure that knowledge and evidence are well used to support quality improvement. If you would like further information about the changes to the service or think that we might be able to offer support to a health improvement project that you are involved in then please contact juliagreen@nhs.net.
Team news
Recruitment to permanent positions in the new Knowledge Services team structure has recently been taking place. I am pleased to report that we now have three permanent team members in place:
Assistant Librarian – Ailsa Anderson
Librarian – Julie Arnot
Knowledge Services Manager – Julia Green
We will shortly be recruiting another Librarian, who will be based in our Glasgow office.
New books
As mentioned in the previous Library News, the service will continue to provide an up-to-date collection of health improvement and health inequalities books. As part of our collection development project over the summer, a large book order was made to update the collection and many of these books have now been delivered. Details of these new resources can be found on pages 19 – 23. Don’t forget, we are happy to post these items out to anyone in Scotland, and we provide a Freepost return address so these items are completely free to borrow. If you would like to borrow any items, simply email the details to nhs.healthscotland-library@nhs.net.
