Library News - February 2010

LIBRARY NEWS

Events

Health Scotland Library staff will have a presence at the marketplace of two forthcoming conferences.
We will be at the Gender Equality and Health conference, which is being held on 23rd February at the Hilton Grosvenor in Edinburgh. If you think this may be of interest, you can find out more about this conference at http://www.healthscotland.com/news/events-item/199.aspx.
We will also be attending the Physical Activity and Health Alliance conference, which this year is being held at the Edinburgh Conference Centre on 25th February: http://www.regonline.co.uk/Checkin.asp?EventId=803735.
If you will be attending either of these events and would like to find out more about the range of services offered by the library, or have any specific questions about what we do and how we can support your work, then please come over and visit our stall. We look forward to seeing you there.

Bulletin – new format

Those of you who receive the bulletin in print will notice that this is the first issue we have produced ‘in house’. As you can see, the finished product is not quite as glossy as our previous issues, but we hope you will find the content as useful as ever.

Current awareness alerts

Many of you will be aware that as well as the bulletin, the Health Scotland Library also produces a range of current awareness alerts as an additional tool to help those with an interest in health improvement keep up date in their field of expertise. If you think this would be useful for your continuous professional development and for keeping abreast of new research then simply email us at library@health.scot.nhs.uk and let us know which alerts are of interest. The following alerts are currently available:

• Alcohol and Substance Misuse
• Children and Young People
• Cochrane Library updates
• Food and Health
• Mental health and wellbeing
• Physical activity and health
