Online catalogue

We are delighted to inform customers that Health Scotland has now joined Shelcat, NHS Scotland’s shared online library catalogue. This means that as well as being able to see what resources are available from Health Scotland, you will also be able to view the holdings of other services and request them via Health Scotland. The catalogue can be viewed at http://shelcat.org/nsco.

We will be sending out registration forms in the New Year in order to register our borrowers on the new system, so please keep an eye out for the form in January.

National review of Knowledge Services – Knowledge into Action

The Knowledge Services team is currently involved in the national review of Knowledge Services taking place across NHS Scotland. Team members are currently involved in three working groups – these focus on the physical resource (to consider the physical space, long-term archiving of journals, document delivery services and books); search and synthesis services; and the social use of knowledge (harnessing new technologies such as Web 2.0 to promote sharing and uptake of knowledge). If you would like to know more about the national review and how Health Scotland’s Knowledge Services team is contributing, then please emailjuliagreen@nhs.net.

More new books

As you will see on pages 14 - 16, we have recently added many new books to our lending collection. To borrow any items simply email us on nhs.healthscotland-knowledge@nhs.net or call 0131 536 5581. We have a Freepost return address so no charge will be incurred.

Christmas wishes

Ailsa, Julie and Julia would like to wish all our customers a very happy and restful Christmas and New Year and we look forward to working with you in 2012.
