Smokefree grounds

The days of smoking on NHS grounds have drawn to a close

In 2013 the Scottish Government launched a new tobacco control strategy – Creating a Tobacco-Free Generation – with a series of actions aimed at achieving a smokefree status by 2034. The strategy contained a specific action that all NHS Boards will implement and enforce smokefree grounds by March 2015.

To consolidate and further support NHS Board level efforts and raise Scotland-wide awareness of the fact that smoking is not permitted anywhere on any NHS grounds, a new national campaign will launch on 2 March.

Campaign resources

With the launch just a week away, we’ve prepared a toolkit with a range of assets and materials for you to use to promote the smokefree message within your Board areas.

To help you with this we have produced:

  • a range of communications materials including templates for local and regional media, guidance on key messages and a Q and A
  • Online resources including web banners, tracking codes and our YouTube video
  • Campaign photography  for use on social media (available soon)
  • A web2print poster allowing local Boards to add their own logo and contact details (available soon)
