4.1 Activities to increase prospects for employment and meaningful activities need to be targeted at people with mental health problems and those on low income or unemployed.

Rationale
Unemployment is a key component of social exclusion and is associated with poor mental health.[1]

Rates of unemployment for people with mental health problems are high. For example, rates of unemployment for mental health service users ranges between 61 -73%.[2]
