Mental Health Improvement: Evaluation Plus
This 2-day course aims to give participants skills in the development and implementation of mental health improvement evaluation. The course covers theory, the evidence base, evaluation design and methodology. The focus is on the practical application of learning, building the skills, confidence and knowledge to develop, commission and undertake evaluation of local mental health improvement projects. Participants will have an opportunity to work on a local example of mental health improvement activity, to examine how this has been or might have been evaluated.
This course is designed for colleagues across all sectors who are directly involved in commissioning, planning or managing the evaluation of projects which may have an impact on mental health. This may be as part of local Joint Health Improvement Planning or Community Planning. We particularly welcome applications from colleagues who have an example of a local project which presents a particular evaluation challenge.
The course is provided on behalf of Health Scotland by the Scottish Development Centre for Mental Health (SDCMH). For more information on the course and how to apply, please visit the SDCMH training pages (external link).
Evidence Into Practice Workshops: training the trainers
This one-day workshop aims to equip colleagues who have a good existing understanding of mental health improvement with the skills to train others in evidence-based mental health improvement. The focus of the course is on building the knowledge and confidence to:
- Make the case for mental health improvement and move it up the agenda in community planning.
- Demonstrate the value of mental health improvement.
- Understand, use and keep up to date with the evidence base.
- Draw on case studies and examples of good practice.
- Deal with frequently asked questions and areas of debate.
A wide range of colleagues across all sectors have skills and expertise in mental health improvement. The workshop is suitable for anyone who has opportunities to influence or train others in mental health improvement e.g. those involved with local Joint Health Improvement Plans and Community Planning, people working in health promotion, primary care, public health, the voluntary or community sector, local government, community development or mental health services.
The course is provided on behalf of Health Scotland by the Scottish Development Centre for Mental Health (SDCMH). For more information on the course and how to apply, please visit the SDCMH training pages (external link).
