Equalities

Find out how our Equality, People and Performance Directorate works with health boards in tackling discrimination and promoting equality.
Promoting equality
The Equality, People and Performance Directorate works with health boards in NHS Scotland to tackle discrimination and promote the equalities agenda. The Directorate also leads the corporate business planning, performance management and HR functions of NHS Health Scotland.
Established in 2008, the Directorate was set up to support the mainstreaming of the equalities agenda in NHS Scotland. The new team brought together previous "Fair for All" projects that had been established on short-term contracts between the Scottish Government and other voluntary organisations to support NHS Scotland implement the ‘Fair for All’ policy, including the National Resource for Ethnic Minority Health (NRCEMH. NHS Health Scotland’s Policy and Planning team was also integrated into the Directorate.
You can see what we do in our Programme of work page
Find out what NHS Health Scotland is doing to promote equality in its work.
We have also completed a report on how equality impact assessment is informing our health improvement work at NHS Health Scotland. The report takes account of the equality impact assessments that we have carried out since 2006 until 2009.
