| Description: | On 7–8 October 1999 an Expert Seminar on Women and Alcohol was staged in Edinburgh. It was organised jointly by the Health Education Board for Scotland, The Scottish Council on Alcohol and the National Association of Alcohol Misuse Co-ordinating Committees. This report is based on presentations from the seminar and examines some of the evidence relating to alcohol consumption amongst women in Scotland and the rest of Great Britain and indicators of alcohol-related harm. It also explores issues in relation to alcohol use by young, middle-aged and elderly women; alcohol problems among members of ethnic minorities; home detoxification and other treatment services; health promotion and primary prevention. |
