Description: This is the fourth annual report of the Scottish Migrant and Ethnic Health Research Strategy (SMEHRS) group, which was set up in December 2010.

It describes progress in implementing the recommendations of the group's strategy for 2014–19.

Highlights of the year include

- A successful national conference.
- A unique public panel that considered possible concerns about the aims, methods and findings of the Scottish Health and Ethnicity Linkage Study.
- Plans to host the First World Congress on Migration, Ethnicity, Race and Health in Edinburgh in May 2018.
- A study of current services and gaps in provision for ethnic minority communities in Scotland.
- Published papers showing important differences between ethnic groups in Scotland for respiratory and gastrointestinal diseases; and how mortality rates are affected by socio-economic status, ethnicity, religion and disability.
