The aims of the strategic review were to: (i) assess the needs and expectations of the voluntary health sector and government in relation to the activity, positioning and impact of VHS (ii) enable VHS staff, its members, Board, funding agencies and wider stakeholders (including SCVO) to take stock of VHS’ progress and achievements so far and identify routes for the future (iii) explore the effectiveness of the added value brought by the wider voluntary sector to health improvement and health care planning, design and delivery in Scotland, including assessing the contribution made by VHS. Objectives The objectives of the review were to investigate: 1. The strategic fit of VHS with current health improvement and patient focus public involvement policy agendas 2. The current and possible future strategic focus of VHS 3. Its capacity as a networking organisation to deliver its strategic aims 4. The expectations and understanding of others (including funders and other stakeholders) of its role and purpose 5. The sustainability and funding of VHS 6. Its positioning and boundaries with related policy agendas and with other intermediaries such as CHEX and VDS 7. Explore its roles and relationships with funders and the wider voluntary and community health sector. 8. Capture and reflect the current and potential needs and expectations of Scotland’s voluntary and community health sector for national support and development. |
