Evaluation of the positive parenting program within the Starting Well Demonstration Project

Description:Evaluation report on the use of Positive use of the Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) in a Scottish context and its acceptability to Starting Well staff and parents. Triple P is a multi-level preventive parent education program, grounded in the principles of social learning. It was developed in Australia and has been widely used and evaluated. Within the context of Starting Well, Triple P is one element of a wider intervention; it has been adopted as the model for parent education and health visitors and lay health support workers are trained in Triple P with most being accredited. Triple P is evolving and developing within the Starting Well Project. This evaluation focuses on staff and parents' views of the Program and explores its use in the Starting Well context. The evaluation was largely carried out between January – December 2004, when the Program was in its early stage of implementation.
