Training, Events and Networking
In this section you will find information on training courses and resources available to develop the key skills to deliver Keep Well anticipatory care programme.
Training and development
Keep Well anticipatory care delivery requires a multi-agency and multi-skilled workforce with strong communication and human relationship skills. The training courses developed to support the development of knowledge, skills and attitudes required for delivery of the Keep Well journey are:
- Better Engagement Skills with hard to reach groups
- Behaviour Change and Health Inequalities
- Mental health and wellbeing training
- Health Behaviour Change – Training for Trainer resource
Workforce development
A framework of competences for healthcare support workers (practice level 3) has been developed to ensure that this workforce is competent in delivering services that are safe, efficient and of quality. Healthcare support workers are an integral part of Keep Well delivery working under supervision of a healthcare professional (e.g. practice nurse).
Find training and development opportunities in a database for anticipatory care and Long Term conditions. The database displays details of learning and development that has taken place, as well as forthcoming events in each Keep Well and Well North anticipatory care programme area.
This contains information on:
- Reflective Accounts of practitioners delivering Keep Well health checks and learning
- Resource bank of local referral sources for mental health and well being
- Alcohol and Brief Interventions training
- Smoking cessation – Raising the Issue of Smoking
Practitioners network
Between 2006 and 2010 the Anticipatory Care programme hosted an active practitioners network. The network was open to staff from general practice, NHS, local government or the voluntary sector. Objectives of the network included: the opportunity to support dissemination of learning and experiences, provide a forum to share practice and learning and offer a platform for peer support and networking.
It provided a combination of approaches allowing practitioners to share and exchange ideas. Face-to-face events were focused around a specific theme and allowed local areas the opportunity to submit examples of local practice to be demonstrated and shared with others. The network held its final event in March 2010 and since then the programme has been investing time in the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). This allows delegates access to courses and resources, to share materials, knowledge and download resources and toolkits to help shape local programmes and share common issues and experiences.
