Evaluation
The Policy Evaluation and Appraisal team's role is to maximise the effectiveness of a number of national level initiatives by appropriate monitoring and evaluation. In addition they have provided support to the Keep Well programme through developing logic models.
The Policy Evaluation and Appraisal team enables better understanding of the reach and impacts of policies and actions through outcomes planning, monitoring and evaluation. The team provides support to evaluate specific national health improvement programmes that are implemented locally, such as Keep well, Well North and wider Anticipatory Care programmes.
Programme Evaluation
National evaluation
A national evaluation of Keep Well wave one was undertaken by the Universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh. The Evaluation team has taken a phased approach to reporting with seven topic-based evaluation reports in the process of being published. Have a Heart Paisley
Have a Heart Paisley (HaHP) was a Scottish Government-funded national health demonstration project, hosted by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. The initial project was established to reduce heart disease and promote healthier, longer lives for the people of Paisley. It was one of four projects outlined in the Government’s White paper ‘Towards a Healthier Scotland’. The project began in 2001 and continued until 2008.
Reports from the final evaluation of Have a Heart Paisley Phase Two are also available. Find more information about the evaluation of the Have a Heart Paisley programme

Logic Models
An important early input by NHS Health Scotland, in collaboration with the Managed Public Health Network (MPHN) and Information and Statistics Division (ISD), was to develop a logic model to guide planning, monitoring and evaluation of the Keep Well programme (wave one).
