Disability, gender & race equality schemes

Health Scotland is committed to the delivery and continuous development of the following equality schemes and action plans.

Disability Equality

We have reviewed our Disability Equality Scheme 2006-2009 and looked at progress with our action plan and identified the areas that we need to focus on to deliver real improvements on disability equality. This review has helped to develop our Disability Equality Scheme 2009-2012 and action plan.

Disability Equality Scheme 2009-2012

Our Disability Equality Scheme Annual Progress Report 2010 reflects on the progress we have made with disability equality since December 2009.

We have set out in a separate document a description of the legal duties that underpin the actions in our Scheme.

Gender Equality

We are committed to meeting the different needs of men and women, including transsexuals, and to overcoming gender health inequalities across Scotland.

Our Interim Gender Equality Scheme June 2010-March 2011 sets out how we will meet the Gender Equality Duty.

This is our second Gender Equality Scheme and we are currently working on an equality strategy for the organisation to bring together our existing equality schemes as well as other areas of equality. The revised Gender Equality Scheme will be incorporated and replaced by this new strategy over the next 6-9 months.

We have reviewed the progress we have made with gender equality since our first Gender Equality Scheme was developed in 2007.
